Priority fixes for eltiempo.es
Ordered by impact and by how common each practice is among peers.
Priority 1 · Enable
XML sitemap discoverable
Observed: No sitemap was listed in robots.txt or found at /sitemap.xml.
Why it matters: A sitemap helps search engines find new and updated pages, especially on large or frequently updated sites.
What to do: Generate an XML sitemap of canonical URLs, reference it in robots.txt and submit it in Google Search Console.
66% of Weather Forecast peers do this. Limit: Only the standard location was requested, once, at the time of the check.
Guide: XML Sitemap Guide: Include Only URLs You Stand Behind
Priority 2 · Accelerate
Modern image formats in use
Observed: The homepage had 7 images and none used WebP or AVIF.
What to do: Serve WebP or AVIF with a JPEG or PNG fallback, either through an image CDN or by generating both formats at build time.
23% of Weather Forecast peers do this.
Guide: AVIF, WebP, JPEG, and PNG: Choose the Right Image Format
Priority 3 · Accelerate
Offscreen images lazy-loaded
Observed: The homepage had 7 images and none used loading="lazy".
What to do: Add loading="lazy" to images below the fold. Do not lazy-load the main hero image, because that delays the largest visible element.
50% of Weather Forecast peers do this.
Priority 4 · Harden
Certificate lifetime of 100 days or less
Observed: The certificate from Amazon had a 393-day validity period, longer than the 100-day maximum that applies from March 2027.
What to do: Move to automated issuance and renewal now, while you still have time to test it.
59% of Weather Forecast peers do this.
